DN100 EPDM Thread with Any Rubber Expansion Joint
4inch
Threaded union rubber expansion joint is a small-size flexible pipe fitting equipped with screwed union ends. It can absorb pipeline vibration, compensate axial, lateral and angular displacement caused by thermal expansion, and reduce noise transmission. Standard pressure ratings are PN10 and PN16, covering DN15 to DN80. EPDM, NBR rubber and carbon steel/304 stainless steel unions are optional for water, oil and air piping systems.

A pipe union is a detachable and reusable connecting component widely applied in industrial pipeline systems. It is designed to join two sections of pipes or pipe fittings, enabling quick assembly, disassembly, and maintenance without cutting the pipeline. This product is essential for pipeline projects that require frequent inspection, repair, or component replacement.
Core Structural Components
A standard pipe union is composed of three main parts:
- Union BodyIt is the main connecting section, usually with internal threads or butt-weld ends, used to connect the two target pipes. The body's inner cavity is smooth to ensure unobstructed medium flow and reduce pressure loss.
- Union NutIt acts as the locking component. By tightening the nut, it compresses the sealing element to achieve reliable sealing between the union body and the connecting end.
- Sealing GasketIt is the core part to prevent medium leakage. The material of the gasket is selected according to the pipeline's working conditions, such as medium type, temperature, and pressure. Common materials include rubber (NBR, EPDM), PTFE, metal (copper, stainless steel), etc.
Key Technical Features
- High Versatility
- Compatible with various pipe types, including steel pipes, stainless steel pipes, copper pipes, and plastic pipes.
- Available in multiple connection modes: threaded (BSP, NPT, ISO), welded (butt weld, socket weld), and flanged, to meet different installation requirements.
- Strong Adaptability to Working Conditions
- Pressure Rating: Covers low-pressure (PN10/16) to high-pressure (PN100+) ranges, suitable for general industrial pipelines and high-pressure hydraulic systems.
- Temperature Resistance: Depends on the material. Metal unions can withstand temperatures from -196ºC (cryogenic) to 800ºC (high-temperature), while non-metal sealed unions are suitable for -50ºC to 200ºC.
- Corrosion Resistance: Material options include carbon steel (WCB), stainless steel (SS304, SS316L), alloy steel, and Hastelloy, adapting to corrosive media such as acids, alkalis, salts, and organic solvents.
- Excellent Sealing PerformanceThe combination of precision machining surfaces and matching sealing gaskets ensures zero leakage under rated conditions, meeting the strict requirements of industries such as petroleum, chemical, and food processing.
- Easy Installation & MaintenanceCompared with permanent connections like welding, pipe unions allow quick disassembly with simple tools, greatly reducing downtime during pipeline maintenance and component replacement.
Common Material Options
| Component | Material Options | Application Scenarios |
|---|---|---|
| Union Body & Nut | Carbon steel (WCB), SS304, SS316L, Alloy 20 | General industry, corrosive media, high-temperature/high-pressure systems |
| Sealing Gasket | NBR, EPDM, PTFE, Graphite, Metal C-ring | Oil/water pipelines, chemical media, high-temperature steam |
Typical Applications
Pipe unions are widely used in various industrial fields:
- Oil & Gas Industry: Onshore and offshore pipeline systems, oil refining equipment.
- Chemical Industry: Transfer pipelines for acids, alkalis, and chemical reagents.
- Water Treatment & HVAC: Urban water supply and drainage, heating and cooling pipeline systems.
- Food & Pharmaceutical Industry: Sanitary-grade unions for beverage, dairy, and pharmaceutical production lines (meeting 3A, FDA standards).
- Power Generation: Thermal power plant steam pipelines, nuclear power plant auxiliary systems.
Compliance with Industry Standards
The design and production of pipe unions comply with international and national standards, including:
- ISO 8434 (Hydraulic fluid power)
- ASME B16.11 (Forged fittings, socket-welding and threaded)
- DIN 2999 (Threaded pipe unions)
- GB/T 14383 (Chinese national standard for pipe unions)
