1. Product Overview
Large diameter full face flanged rubber expansion joint, also known as wide flange rubber flexible joint or full face seal rubber compensator, is an upgraded version of conventional groove-type rubber expansion joints, specially designed for large-caliber pipeline systems from DN200 to DN3000. Different from ordinary rubber joints with groove clamping structure, this product adopts an integral full-face flanging sealing design, which enables full-plane compression and sealing between the rubber end face and pipeline flange. It effectively solves common problems of large-diameter pipelines such as sphere pulling-off, seal failure, rubber tearing and pressure resistance insufficiency under high pressure, vacuum condition and water hammer impact.
This flexible rubber joint integrates multiple functions including pipeline thermal expansion compensation, vibration isolation, noise reduction, displacement correction and pipeline stress relief. It is widely applied in municipal water supply and drainage, sewage treatment plants, thermal power plants, chemical industry, desulfurization and denitrification systems, seawater desalination and industrial circulating water pipeline projects. With excellent structural stability and environmental adaptability, it is the preferred connecting accessory for large-diameter medium and high-pressure pipeline systems.
2. Core Structural Features & Advantages
2.1 Full Face Integral Sealing Structure
The rubber body is integrally vulcanized with wide flanging on both ends, and the outer diameter of the rubber flange is consistent with the standard pipe flange. The bolt fastening method forms full-surface uniform compression sealing instead of local groove clamping. This structure completely avoids the risk of rubber sphere detachment and leakage caused by uneven stress of large-diameter pipe fittings under long-term pressure, and greatly improves the overall sealing reliability and service life.
2.2 Multi-layer Reinforced Vulcanization Technology
The product adopts a composite layered structure composed of inner rubber layer, multi-ply polyester cord fabric reinforcement layer, middle rubber isolation layer and outer rubber protective layer. For high-pressure and super-large diameter models (DN1000 and above), built-in steel wire ring reinforcement is added to enhance structural tensile strength and pressure resistance. The whole body is integrally vulcanized at high temperature and high pressure, with no delamination, no crack and stable physical properties. It can resist axial tension, lateral dislocation and angular deflection of pipelines for a long time.
2.3 Optional Anti-pull-off & Vacuum Resistant Structure
Matching limit tie rods can be installed according to working conditions to control the maximum stretching displacement of the rubber joint, effectively preventing pipeline damage and joint pulling-off caused by instantaneous water hammer and pressure surge. For negative pressure and vacuum pipeline systems, a built-in vacuum support ring can be customized to avoid rubber body suction and collapse, ensuring stable operation of the pipeline under extreme working conditions.
2.4 Diversified Material & Standard Customization
Rubber materials can be selected according to different conveying media and temperature environments. Flanges support carbon steel galvanized, stainless steel 304/316 and anti-corrosion coating treatment. It complies with GB, DIN, ANSI, GOST and other international flange standards, fully meeting the installation requirements of domestic and foreign engineering projects.
3. Rubber Material Selection & Application Scope
Different rubber formulas are adopted to adapt to diverse media, temperature and corrosive working conditions, ensuring optimal performance and service life in different scenarios:
- NR Natural Rubber: Suitable for clean water, ordinary circulating water and air medium; working temperature range -20℃ to 80℃; features high elasticity, good vibration absorption effect and cost performance.
- EPDM Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer: The most versatile material for municipal and chemical projects; applicable to hot water, seawater, weak acid and weak alkali medium, desulfurization flue gas and water; working temperature -20℃ to 150℃; excellent aging resistance and corrosion resistance.
- NBR Nitrile Rubber: Special for oil medium; suitable for diesel, gasoline, industrial oil and oily sewage; working temperature -20℃ to 120℃; outstanding oil resistance and wear resistance.
- FKM Fluorine Rubber: High-end anti-corrosion material; applicable to strong acid, strong alkali and high-temperature corrosive media; working temperature -20℃ to 250℃; super strong chemical stability.

5. Installation & Working Instructions
To ensure long-term stable operation of large-diameter rubber expansion joints, standardized installation and operation specifications must be followed:
- High-pressure & Vertical Installation: For pipelines with DN≥200, vertical installation or working pressure ≥1.0MPa, limit tie rods must be equipped to prevent instantaneous water hammer from pulling off the rubber body.
- Standard Fastening: Flange bolts must be tightened diagonally and evenly to avoid unilateral stress concentration, which causes local deformation and leakage of the rubber flange.
- Vacuum Pipeline Protection: For negative pressure and vacuum pipeline systems, customized internal vacuum support rings are required to prevent rubber body suction collapse.
- Usage Limitation: Do not exceed the rated pressure, temperature and compensation displacement of the product; avoid sharp hard objects scratching the rubber surface during installation and use.
- Environmental Adaptation: Avoid long-term exposure to strong ultraviolet, ozone and high-temperature baking environments without protective measures, so as not to accelerate rubber aging.
