1. Product Overview
A rubber expansion joint (also known as a flexible rubber connector or resilient pipe joint) is a flexible piping connection component made primarily of rubber material, reinforced with high-strength fabric layers, and equipped with metal flanges or threaded ends at both sides. With its unique elastomeric structure, it serves as a"flexible joint"in piping systems, effectively absorbing movement, isolating vibration, and compensating for thermal deformation. It is an essential accessory for ensuring the safe and reliable operation of pipeline networks.
2. Structural Composition
The product features a multi-layer composite construction, consisting of the following from inside out:
- Inner Liner – Directly contacts the conveyed medium, offering excellent corrosion resistance and sealing performance. Its smooth inner surface minimizes fluid flow resistance.
- Reinforcement Layer– Made of high-strength nylon cord or polyester fabric plies wound in multiple layers to provide pressure-bearing capacity and dimensional stability, ensuring the product remains intact under pressure without bursting or excessive deformation.
- Outer Cover – Protects the internal structure, with outstanding resistance to aging, ozone, and weathering, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications.
- End Connections – Available with loose flanges, fixed flanges, or threaded unions to suit various piping system requirements and facilitate quick installation.

3. Key Functions
1. Movement Compensation– Effectively absorbs axial, lateral, and angular displacements caused by thermal expansion/contraction, building settlement, or equipment operation, preventing pipe damage from stress concentration.
2. Vibration Damping & Noise Reduction – The rubber material's high damping properties significantly isolate mechanical vibrations transmitted from pumps, compressors, and other rotating equipment, while also reducing flow-induced noise to improve the working environment.
3. Shock Absorption – In the event of water hammer or sudden pressure surges, the rubber body expands momentarily to absorb impact energy, protecting downstream valves and instruments.
